How a Simple Wheelchair Adaptation Transformed My Independence

The personalisation of our wheelchair is crucial in answering our different individual needs. The choice of adaptations and solutions that a wheelchair brand offers makes the complete difference in our autonomy and life in general.

These possible adaptations go way beyond the generic model of a wheelchair, and they should be considered when comes the time to choose it.

Small changes often have a great impact. For example, I've had a headrest articulated arm that is static and is made to stay in a specific chosen position.

I do bodybuilding competitions, and my performance routine requires my headrest to be moved out of the way. In the past, the whole headrest would need to be completely removed from my wheelchair, and put back after, a manipulation not so simple to do on my own.

After talking to my Quantum Rehab Canada representative, he suggested a new model that can be flipped down with a simple gesture, without the need to take it off.

This simple change has completely changed the game for me. I can easily flip it down on my own, and put it back in place right after, while keeping the perfect position for my neck.
